Hi, I’m Richard Williamson, Research Director at Blueprint Biosecurity, a nonprofit that works on preventing future pandemics.
We’ve just published a preprint of our ‘Blueprint for Far-UVC’. I’m really excited about far-UVC germicidal lamps as a potential game changer for suppressing pathogens, and have some concrete ideas about how we could get to a world with a lot less airborne disease. You can read more about far-UVC and the Blueprint over at Notes on Progress, but three quick things I want to highlight:
We’re really eager for feedback on the preprint. You can learn more about what we’re looking for here. We’re also collecting expressions of interest to join our pool of paid reviewers.
We’re hiring a new senior role to build out an ambitious program—something we’re calling Project Airborne Infection Resilience (AIR)—that will take the Far-UVC Blueprint’s recommendations and make them reality. Please check the listing out and share with anyone you think might be interested.
We’re launching this substack, Far-UVC Field Notes, a monthly newsletter for us to share updates on our far-UVC work. We intend to curate research and news highlights on far-UVC, so please do reach out to us if you think there is something we should be aware of. The first edition will come out in early April, and you can subscribe below.
That’s it for today - I’m really looking forward to sharing more of our work with you next month.
All the best, Richard
Fascinating effort, with a potentially huge payoff! Curious to know if there are any existing consumer products you would recommend for home/office use for those of us who trust the science already.
Very excited to see this project develop!
